Achmea Farm Insurance has officially opened its new office in Tamworth, marking another step in the specialist agricultural insurer’s regional growth since entering the Australian market in 2013.
Almost 50 guests attended the opening, including clients, farmers, industry stakeholders and members of Achmea Farm Insurance’s Executive Leadership Team.
Achmea Farm Insurance CEO Emma Thomas opened the event, with addresses also delivered by Angus Australia Chief Executive Officer Scott Wright and The Hon. Kevin Anderson MP, Member for Tamworth.
In her opening address, Achmea Farm Insurance CEO Emma Thomas said the new Tamworth office was about deepening Achmea’s connection to the people and communities at the heart of Australian agriculture.
“Being present, listening, and standing alongside our clients where they live and work is incredibly important to us, and there is no better place to reinforce that commitment than here in Tamworth,” Ms Thomas said.
Achmea Farm Insurance’s presence in Tamworth has been growing steadily since entering the Australian market in 2013. Its new Tamworth office brings together team members who support clients on farm, forming part of the insurer’s regional presence and its purpose of keeping farmers farming, rather than operating as a client-facing branch.
For the Tamworth team, that commitment is practical: senior leadership based in the region, Farm Insurance Specialists who visit clients on farm, and local roles across underwriting, client experience, policy support and growth, all working together to support farmers across the region.
“As a Tamworth local, I’m proud that Achmea Farm Insurance has senior leadership and local team members based here in the region. As a direct specialist agricultural insurer, our local Farm Insurance Specialists visit clients on farm across Tamworth and surrounds, supported by people working in underwriting, client experience, policy support and growth. It means we can support local jobs, build careers in agricultural insurance and contribute to agriculture as Achmea grows,” said Marnie Te Aho, General Manager, who is based in Tamworth.
The opening ceremony also recognised Achmea Farm Insurance’s partnership with Angus Australia, which began in 2019 and has supported almost 100 young beef industry leaders through its GenAngus Future Leaders program.
As part of the ceremony, an Achmea ‘glass jar’ was handed to the Tamworth team as custodians of the tradition. The jar included locally sourced items representing agricultural industries in the region, including cropping, wool, cotton, eggs and beef. The glass jar tradition reflects Achmea’s origins in the Netherlands in 1811, when a group of Dutch farmers came together to protect one another against fire through a cooperative approach to shared risk.
The office fit-out includes sustainable materials and is supplied with 100% accredited GreenPower electricity. Achmea Farm Insurance also continues to support regional sustainability initiatives, with Achmea supporting Land Life’s Moolagundi restoration project west of Tamworth.
