Jacob Last
Warragul VIC
Being on the claimant side of insurance after a catastrophic storm event has given Jacob Last a unique perspective on the industry.
Namely, how to do things better.
Born and raised in the West Gippsland region, Jacob lives in the area on a 40-acre farm where he runs a small herd of cattle.
He joins Achmea Australia from a career in retail management and although he is a newcomer to insurance, Jacob brings plenty of local knowledge to the role and prides himself on building strong client relationships.
After storms lashed the region in June 2021, Jacob had significant damage to sheds and fencing on his farm which resulted in an insurance claim.
His experience with another insurance company left him feeling frustrated and he is now determined to ensure his clients do not go through the same thing.
“I was drawn to this role as I really like what Achmea has to offer farmers and our whole ethos of keeping farmers farming,” Jacob said.
Outside of work, Jacob is a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Country Fire Authority and was one of the first on scene to the devastating 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.
