Farms are a great place to live and work, but they can also be dangerous.

As an owner or manager of a farm there are steps you can take to identify risks and put in place risk mitigation measures to help prevent accidents and keep people safe on thefarm.

Let’s develop a farm safety culture, including farm safety inductions and regular toolbox talks. Let’s make safety everybody’s business.

Perform preventative maintenance of machinery, equipment and infrastructure.

Sign-post speed limits on the farm.

Farms are a great place for children to grow up but we also know they are dangerous, let’s create a designated children’s play area away from identified hazards and within the supervision of an adult.

You can start by downloading a free copy of the FarmSafe risk assessment and employee induction toolkit to help you get started.

Every farm is different, and activities on-farm can change from day a to day basis. Be sure to check for hazards on a regular basis, when conditions on-farm can change significantly, especially after significant weather events.
